Thursday, October 22, 2009

Authroities charged two suspects Thursday in connection with an armed robbery Wednesday morning at a Rocky Mount pawn shop.

Alzavion Randolph, 20, and Nagi McKenzie, 21, both of Tarboro, were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit a robbery. Both remain in custody.

Rocky Mount Police Capt. Laura Fahnstock said Tarboro police assisted the department in making the arrests.

Witnesses told authorities two men wearing all black clothes and masks walked into the M & T Pawn Shop on Sunset Avenue around 9:40 a.m. and demanded money. One of the suspects brandished a handgun, the other had a shotgun, police said.

The men fled the business, taking with them an undisclosed amount of money and jewelry.
