Authorities are investigating a Nash County wreck that sent five people to the hospital.

N.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. E.R. Yarboro said authorities responded around 4 p.m. to a single-vehicle wreck on Joyner Road near Bend of the River Road. He said a vehicle went off the left side of the road and struck a culvert.

Officials said no one was pinned or trapped in the vehicle or ejected when the crash occurred.

The vehicle’s occupants — three children and two adults — were transported to Nash General Hospital. The victims’ identities and conditions were not available at press time.

Yarboro said it is unclear what caused the vehicle to go off the side of the road.

Traffic was impacted for several hours while crews investigated the incident.
