Greenville police are investigating the shooting death of a man from Tarboro who recently moved to Greenville.

Authorities said the body of 36-year-old Anthony Antonio Johnson was found around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the front yard of a Greenville duplex in which he lived. Johnson had been shot multiple times in the upper body and legs, according to a press release.

Witnesses reportedly told police they saw Johnson get into a confrontation with at least two other men shortly before they heard the gunfire. It is unclear what the motive might be, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pitt County Crime Stoppers at 758-7777.
