Authorities continue to search for a Rocky Mount man who escaped deputies Wednesday when he fled from a traffic stop and into the woods on Jeffreys Road.
Thomas A. Rose hopped out of his car and dashed into a wooded area near the Northgreen Golf Course after Nash County deputies pulled him over around noon, officials said.
Deputies chased Rose on foot and later were aided by other area law enforcement officials in their search for the 22-year-old Battleboro community resident.
Officers searched the area through the afternoon but were unable to locate Rose, officials said.
“He got away,” Lt. Pat Joyner said. “For now, at least.”
Rose is wanted in both Nash and Edgecombe counties for separate incidents involving check forgery and a vehicle break-in, according to police records.
Rose’s vehicle was towed from the scene, officials said.
Rose, a white male, about 6-feet, 160 pounds, is not believed to be dangerous. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should call the Nash County Sheriff’s Office at 459-4121.
