Local Sears’ customers were shocked Thursday when they heard of the pending store closing.

Sears
Sears inability to compete effectively on price has hurt them. A Number of stores targeting middle income shoppers are strugggling. Sears is closing atleast 100 stores to improve their financial performance and focus on their better performing locations. IN Rocky Mount Sears has difficulty competing with Walmart. Lowe's, Best Buy, etc. Unfortunately, Rocky Mount may not be large enough to provide adquate market share to Sears. I am sad to hear a bout their pending closing. They sell a variety of merchandise and have brands such as Craftsman and Kenmore.

Why don't you criticize the dilapidated shopping mall in Tarboro? Atleast Rocky Mount has the largest mall between Richmond, VA and Fayetteville, NC

Why are you criticizing Rocky Mount. Rocky Mount does have the largest shooping mall between Fayetteville, and Richmond, VA. I went to the shopping mall in Tarboro several years ago and there were only a hanfull of small stores open and an old movie theater.

Sear's
This is a example of a company that refused to change it's business model to supply needs of customers.This should open some business owners eyes.
Don't want Sears to close
We buy our appliances at Sears - bought a washer and dryer there just 6 months ago. I prefer Craftsman tools from Sears as Sears will stand behind the tools and replace them. Lands End clothing is sold there. Recently this Sears expanded the shoe department. (I like that I can pull the shoe boxes myself and try the shoes on rather than having be waited on.) Don't go, Sears!
