Puppies abandoned in parking lot

Police are seeking information after discovering a bag of abandoned puppies this week in a parking lot.

The puppies, discovered this week by a customer outside Wal-Mart, were taken to a local animal shelter, authorities said.

The litter of puppies had been left outside the store on Benvenue Avenue during a hot day last week. It was unclear how long the puppies had been left out, the report said.

The puppies are believed to be in good condition.

Anyone with information about the incident are asked to call Rocky Mount police at 972-1411.

Assault

• 20-year-old female spit at and attacked on the 1600 block of Branch Street.
• 22-year-old female attacked on the 1200 block of East Grand Avenue.
• 48-year-old male punched in face on the 1200 block of Cypress Street.
• 45-year-old male attacked at intersection of Barnes Street and Laurel Court.
• 18-year-old female hit at intersection of Springfield Road and U.S. 64.
• 1500 block of Charter Drive; nothing stolen.
• 18-year-old female choked on the 100 block of Browning Lane.
• 28-year-old male shot at on the 1800 block of Sunset Avenue.
• 29-year-old male attacked with knife on the 800 block of Marigold Street.
• 39-year-old male punched in face on the 100 block of Parrish Street.
• 41-year-old female threatened with knife on the 2000 block of Cottage Way.
• 23-year-old female shot in leg on the 600 block of North Grace Street.

• 900 block of Oakey Street; stolen, lawn mower and hedge trimmer.

Hit and run

• 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander hit on the 700 block of North Wesleyan Boulevard.
• 2001 Ford Ranger hit at intersection of Winstead Avenue and U.S. 64.
• 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix hit on the 1800 block of North Wesleyan Avenue.
• Utility pole damaged on the 100 block of East Grand Avenue.
• 2007 Toyota Camry hit on the 1100 block of Jeffreys Road.

Larceny

• 46-year-old male robbed at gun point on the 400 block Madison Street; stolen, $500, cell phone and necklace.
