Rocky Mount police charged a woman with assault after she allegedly attempted to injure another woman with a farming tool.

Police said Tenekia Batts, 20, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after she allegedly attempted to assault Vivian Stokes at 7:09 p.m. Jan. 31 with a pitchfork at a residence on the 500 block of Ambler Avenue.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Assault

Rocky Mount police are investigating an assault at a local bar that resulted in man being severely cut.

Police said officers responded to Gator’s Sports Bar on the 1100 block of Jefferies Road to find Stanley Proctor Jr., 22, of the 4800 block of Green Hills Road, injured from a laceration to his arm.

Police said Proctor told officers a man approached him in the establishment and began cursing. Proctor then told a female friend to leave the bar and upon turning away from the suspect, felt a cut to his arm.

The suspect left in an unknown vehicle and drove from the scene, police said.

Proctor was treated at Nash General Hospital and released.
