Police are searching for two men in connection with a triple shooting that left one person in critical condition early Sunday and injured two others.
The victims told police they had been involved in an altercation with Sylvester R. Andrew on the 600 block of Poplar Street. Andrew fled but returned to the residence with another man, identified only as “TJ,” around 12:45 a.m., the victims said.
They accuse him of pulling out a handgun and firing several shots at them, and the man accompanying Andrew of firing a shotgun in their direction.
Jameine Nicholson and Ladonna Battle both were shot in the abdomen, police said, and Troy Copeland was shot in the left elbow and knee. Another man, Desonte Cooper also was assaulted, police said, and shotgun pellets damaged a vehicle owned by Brittany Flowers.
Nicholson, Battle and Copeland were taken to Nash General Hospital. Nicholson was transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where he was listed in critical condition Monday.
Warrants were issued for Andrew, charging him with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count each of assault and damage to personal property.
Authorities said both men were last seen driving a red car, possibly a Pontiac Grand Am, east on Ridge Street toward Falls Road.
