Police seek suspect in shooting

Police are searching for a Rocky Mount man accused of shooting another man twice around noon today.
Police said Billy Ray Artis Jr., 23, is wanted for allegedly shooting 20-year-old Anthony Kyseem Smith in the stomach and shoulder. The incident occurred on the 800 block of Arlington Street, police said.
Smith was taken to Nash General Hospital. His condition is unknown.
Authorities describe Artis as a light-skinned black man, standing about 5-feet-9 and weighing about 173 pounds. Police filed a warrant for Artis for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
