Police seek shooting suspect

A Pinetops man is recovering after being shot during a Friday night altercation.

Authorities said a 23-year-old man got in a fight with a Princeville suspect around 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Golden East Crossing mall. The suspect reportedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim one time then fled the scene.

Witnesses described a vehicle involved in the incident to police and officers stopped the vehicle a short distance away, but found the victim en route to the hospital. The victim was treated and released at Nash General Hospital.

Police obtained warrants against Travis Harper, 26, for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Princeville and Tarboro police along with Edgecombe County deputies are assisting in the hunt for the gunman.

Another shooting in Rocky Mount at the mall west of 301 NOT NEWS. With the approach the police has taken to address crime in Rocky Mount I thank God no innocent shopper was shot or killed.
