Police are searching for a man who stole a cash deposit from two employees of the Body Shop on Monday at Golden East Crossing mall.

The suspect is described as a black male, dark-skinned with facial hair. He was wearing a black coat with tan fur around it and a black hoodie over his head. Police said he is armed with a handgun.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m., and the suspect got away with nearly $550. Body Shop manager Vivian, whose last name is being withheld, said she and another employee followed their usual morning routine prior to opening the clothing store. Stores at the mall typically open at 10 a.m.

“We drop a deposit at the bank normally every morning, and two people go to the bank,” she said. “We go out the same door every morning. Everything was on schedule.”

Rocky Mount police are asking anyone with information about the crime or the suspect to call the police station at 972-1411, Twin County Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or Capt. Laura Fahnestock at 972-1681.
