Police arrest fourth suspect in Northern Nash student slaying

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Police on Wednesday arrested the last of four known suspects wanted in connection to the Sept. 4 murder of a Northern Nash High School student.

Responding to a tip phoned in to authorities, police arrested Corey Jermaine Lee, 32, at 313 Privette Hedge Road and charged him with first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree burglary and arson.

Authorities are continuing to investigate, and more suspects might be arrested in connection to the shooting of 17-year-old Chavalis Boyd, found dead in a Rocky Mount house fire last month.

Phoenix police officers arrested 20-year-old Brian Carney and 32-year-old Nathan Jones this weekend. Both men were charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery and first-degree burglary, authorities said.

After extinguishing the fire at Boyd’s home on Silverleaf Road last month, firefighters found the teen dead in the house’s front bedroom. An autopsy conducted a few days later determined the teen had been shot and was dead before the fire.

Police arrested 21-year-old Quantisia Lushun Moss earlier this month and charged the Kenly woman with accessory after the fact for murder.

Police put out reward posters earlier this month, offering $1,000 to anyone with information leading to arrests in the case.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111 or e-mail crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.

It is sad that a young person was murdered! But these days when someone kills someone they get less time for murder than anything!! They let the murders and rapist get out in 10 to 15 years and the other crimes that are committed get life!!! WHere is the justice in that??????
