Operation Dixie commemorates historic union organizing effort

A celebration Saturday at the Imperial Centre was 65 years in the making as officials, community members and former tobacco leaf house workers dedicated a state historic marker commemorating Operation Dixie, a union organizing campaign that kicked off in Rocky Mount.
