i was wondering that we were annex into the city without knowing we were been annex can we petition the city of rocky mount and let us decide if we want to be annex or not. that was a dirty deal.and the city of rocky mount deserve everything they and more
Don't waste anymore money
The city council should vote to rescind the annexation and not waste anymore of the residents' tax dollars. The 60 percent will be met with no problem. Now the city is saying they spent all that money on sewer lines and hiring police officers. When arguments were being made, city officials kept telling the legislature that the money was spent on legal fees. Wonder what other expenditures the city officials put a twist on.
City spent money on Annexation
Knowing that the sewer lines will just sit and wait for the future - the city will recoup their money. The extra Police hired? Well, I'm sure that's a good expense that can be put to good use in other parts of the city.
The good thing about the new law is that cities won't jump out and spend current taxpayer money needlessly. We told you that we didn't want to be annexed 3 years ago, but you had to go ahead didn't you?
