The American Dream
In response to all the negative comments regarding the Douglas Block Renovations and the businesses leasing space; this is the American Dream. As a business owner you have to many resources invested as well as love and passion for your business. I do not believe anyone goes into business to fail according to some of the comments that are being made. Instead of attacking the renovation project and the businesses located here try focusing your efforts on other solutions. If you want to live your dream go Ahead and Stop critizing others who are. Put more effort into actually doing something progressive instead of spewing your negativity.
P.S. Our tax money is spent on alot of things that we don't necessary agree with and maybe you have benefitted from my taxes dollars in one way or another as well.
Love it you said
it wouldn't happen and it has so get over it. You can't take it can you? The current council is making things happen. Keep up the good work.
Lies
Butch stop telling lies. The Douglass Block is nothing but a waste of tax payers money. But wait, the people occupying the Douglass Block has prolly never paid one nickel in taxes.
Butch Dancy, the man that does nothing but keep racism alive in the Nash and Edgecombe Counties.
oh happy day
the douglas block is full. Who the hell cares! It is project that has been dragging on for years now and we have one block filled with businesses that will not be around very long. These businesses are attracting lots of traffic downtown right? NO. this block is helping the economy of Rocky Mount right? NO This block is costing tax payer money right? YES...i know you all think grant money paid for it all...where the hell do you think the grant money came from? Programs and grants from the federal government are funded with tax money. There is no benefit to revitalizing downtown. Why do you think the Capital Broadcasting people haven't done anything with the old mill. They know this city sucks and they don't want to spend the money here. People wake up vote out the current city council and keep voting people out until we can find people that will actually know what they are doing.
Amen
Hammer meet nail!!
Great comment Stuckhere.
To Respectfully Address Your Concerns
As a local business owner who considered moving into the Douglas Block, I'd like to address the concern of those who may have been misinformed. The tenants within the Douglas Block are solely responsible for paying their rent, taxes and all other applicable expenses. As it was explained to me, the only grant money involved was for renovation of the once dilapidated buildings. Had there been "hand-outs" the entire block would have been filled the first week.
Hope this helps to keep some of your worries at bay, you can always read the information available on the city website or contact those involved with the project listed on the site to confirm.
Be Blessed.
Sorry fruitcake but you are
