CHARLOTTE — Authorities in Charlotte said a health care employee contracted to work as an athletic trainer at a local high school is charged with having sex with a student.
Melinda Ilg, 29, was arrested Aug. 31 by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and charged with sexual activity with a student by school personnel. She is free under $10,000 bond.
A spokeswoman for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools says the system contracts with Carolinas Healthcare to provide certified athletic trainers at several high schools. Ilg was a trainer at Vance High School.
The CMS spokeswoman would not say which team the student played for, but said Ilg is no longer at Vance. A spokesman for Carolinas Healthcare Systems says Ilg is on paid administrative leave, pending an outcome of the case.
