RALEIGH — A Wake County commissioner and former candidate for lieutenant governor has been hired as chief operating officer in Gov. Pat McCrory’s budget office.
Tony Gurley also announced Friday his resignation from the Wake commission as McCrory named Gurley to the post within the Office of State Budget and Management.
Gurley has been a pharmacist and attorney during his business career. He’s served on the Wake commission since 2002 and was previously its chairman. He lost to Dan Forest in the Republican primary runoff for lieutenant governor in 2012.
