HENDERSONVILLE — Two children were lowered to safety by family members, while two adults jumped from a second-floor balcony to escape a fire at an apartment complex in Hendersonville.
The Times-News of Hendersonville reports Hendersonville Fire Department crews received a call about the fire at the Ivy Terrace Apartments around 4 a.m. Friday.
Hendersonville Fire Chief Dorian Flowers said by the time firefighters responded about five minutes later, 60 percent of the building had already been consumed by flames.
Four people were taken to Pardee Hospital with minor injuries. Flowers also said four of the six apartment units sustained heavy damage, while the other two have fire and water damage.
The fire is under investigation.
