YOUNGSVILLE — Authorities in Franklin County say two school buses crashed head-on, injuring both drivers and 10 students.

Franklin County Schools spokesman Joe Baisley said the buses were carrying students from Youngsville and Franklinton elementary schools Wednesday afternoon. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

The N.C. Highway Patrol said the bus from Franklinton Elementary was turning left when it crossed the center line of a street and hit the second bus, which was at a stop sign.

Baisley said the injured drivers and students were taken to Wake Med North and Franklin Regional Medical Center. An additional bus was sent to the scene to transport uninjured students home.
