RALEIGH — Work crews are planning to stop traffic over the Bonner Bridge in both directions to conduct a routine deck scan
The N.C. Department of Transportation says the crews will stop traffic on Monday at 9 a.m. It’s expected that the deck scan will take about 30 minutes.
NCDOT will use the data gathered to determine if there have been any changes since the last scan done in March.
South of the bridge, construction is under way on the permanent, 2.1-mile bridge on Pea Island. The bridge will replace the temporary span standing where Hurricane Irene breached the highway in 2011.
Drivers can expect lane closures through mid-June during daytime hours Monday through Thursday, and until 3 p.m. on Fridays. No closures are planned on weekends to avoid impacting tourist travel.
