WENTWORTH — Authorities in Rockingham County say two people who broke into a home are in custody after their pickup truck got stuck in the mud.

The News & Record of Greensboro reports deputies responding to a report of a burglary in Mayodan found evidence that someone had broken into a home.

When the deputies went to the back of the home Sunday, they found two people trying to drive their truck out of the mud. Investigators say the suspects took apart a portion of the house’s deck and had placed the wood under the tires to help free the truck.

The sheriff’s office said 27-year-old Kevin Wade Anthony of Patrick Springs, Va., and 24-year-old Kenlee Elizabeth Hylton of Bassett, Va., face several charges.
