RALEIGH — Independence Day in Raleigh again includes music, history and new citizens.
The free event Monday at the State Capitol includes musical performances, historical and military displays, carriage rides and several hands-on and play activities for children. Visitors also can take narrated trolley rides through historic downtown Raleigh.
For the second year, an outdoor naturalization ceremony will be held, with about 30 new citizens being sworn in. After that ceremony, the “Salute to Independence” will be held, featuring a reading of the Declaration of Independence.
