ZEBULON — Wake County officials say a motorcyclist has died in a crash after a high-speed police chase near Zebulon.

North Carolina state troopers said that 22-year-old Daniel Scott Barnes of Bailey was thrown from his motorcycle after hitting a car then a guardrail Saturday night. He died at the scene. No one else was injured.

Wake County sheriff’s spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens says deputies reported the motorcycle was going more than 130 mph on Interstate 40. Deputies pursued the motorcycle, but the driver refused to stop.
