RALEIGH — Weather forecasters say extremely hot and humid conditions in North Carolina over the next two days could make outdoor activities dangerous.
The National Weather Service says temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s to around 100 Tuesday and Wednesday. Combined with high humidity, the risk of heat stroke and dehydration is high for anyone working or playing outdoors.
Forecasters have already issued heat advisories Tuesday for much of the state east of the mountains. Tuesday’s highs in some places could surpass 100 degrees, but the temperature combined with humidity will make it feel like 105-110 degrees.
Wednesday’s high will fall back into the 90s, followed by cooler temperatures for the rest of the week
Thundershowers are forecast for late Wednesday or Thursday, and could bring slightly cooler temperatures.
