SMITHFIELD — The Johnston County district attorney is suing her children’s godmother and is seeking damages, saying the woman had sex with the prosecutor’s husband.

WTVD in Durham reports that District Attorney Susan Doyle filed the criminal conversation lawsuit this week in Johnston County court. The lawsuit names Christi Stem of Clayton as the woman who had sex with Doyle’s husband, Michael.

The lawsuit said Susan Doyle and Stem were friends for 17 years and that Stem is godmother to the Doyles’ two children.

No one answered the phone Wednesday at Stem’s home or office. No telephone listing could be found for Michael Doyle other than the couple’s home in Clayton.

The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $10,000 and punitive damages in excess of $10,000.
