ASHEVILLE — Authorities in Asheville say a 12-inch gas line has ruptured, leading to a fire which has led to traffic detours and evacuations of area businesses.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports PSNC Energy spokeswoman Angie Townsend confirmed the damaged gas line. The fire was first reported around 4 p.m. Friday.

Asheville Fire Department spokeswoman Kelley Klope said there have been no reports of injuries. Klope said businesses were evacuated and residents of Enka Village were taken to the Enka Baptist Church.

The Buncombe County Emergency Operations Center said one road was closed to traffic.
