RALEIGH — The garden at the Executive Mansion in Raleigh will be open one day for self-guided tours.

The garden will be open noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Docents located throughout the property will answer questions about the grounds and sustainable gardening practices. Head groundskeeper Gerald Adams will greet visitors in the vegetable garden.

The Victorian-style mansion was built in 1891 while the gardens weren’t added until about 100 years later. They include a koi pond, beehives and the vegetable garden that provides produce for the first family and local families through an Inter-Faith Food Shuttle program.

Reservations aren’t needed for the tours.
