GREENVILLE — A former Greenville police officer is accused of tampering with evidence and obstructing justice.
Authorities say 40-year-old Heriberto Calles faces a variety of charges stemming from a domestic call on Feb. 17. Police say a day after Calles responded to the call, the man said to be involved in the case went to police to give officers more information, and it was discovered that his report and a report filed by Calles did not match.
According to a warrant, Calles destroyed photographic evidence to minimize the case, and also told two other officers to lie during an internal investigation.
Calles is in jail under a $10,000 bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney. He had been on the force since 2010 and resigned last month.
