WILMINGTON — The U.S. Coast Guard has transported a man from a tug boat off Hatteras Inlet after he experienced chest pains.

A statement from the Coast Guard said watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina in Wilmington received a report of a 30-year-old male experiencing chest pains and numbness aboard the 94-foot tug Gulf Coast Thursday night.

A crew from the Hatteras Inlet station launched a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew, which transferred the man to the lifeboat. The crew brought the man to Station Hatteras Inlet, from which he was flown to Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.

The man’s identity was not released.
