RALEIGH — An attorney says the man charged in the deaths of two Good Samaritans on a snow-covered Interstate 40 is heartsick about what’s happened.
Defense attorney Roger Smith Jr. told The News & Observer of Raleigh that 21-year-old Marshall Hudson Doran of Kure Beach is unable to think of anything other than the men’s deaths and the effect on their families.
A student directory lists Doran as a student at UNC-Wilmington. He faces charges of felony death by motor vehicles and other charges in the deaths Thursday night. He originally was charged with second-degree murder.
Two men who were hit while trying to help a driver whose tractor-trailer cab slid on I-40 near Garner.
Doran’s bond was reduced to $500,000 from $5 million after a court appearance Friday.
