WILMINGTON — Police say they found one man dead and a second wounded after checking an area in Wilmington where gunshots were reported by special system.

Investigators told local media outlets that the ShotSpotter system reported gunfire around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. The system uses acoustic sensors linked to a computer to tell police when guns are fired.

When officers arrived, they found 33-year-old Edmund Lane dead and a 52-year-old man injured.

Police say there appeared to be a fight at the intersection where the men were found. Investigators hope an autopsy on Lane gives them clues to who killed him and are asking the community for help finding his killer.
