Navy Seaman Apprentice Andre A. Taylor recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

The eight-week program includes classroom study and practical training on the service’s core values, physical fitness, naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety. It culminated in the Battle Stations skills and teamwork exercise.

Taylor is a 2005 graduate of Northern Nash High School.
