Shanee C. Ross recently enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program.

The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to a year to complete prior commitments such as high school. The program helps recruits ease into the transition from civilian to military life.

Ross will report for basic training to the Navy’s Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.

She is the daughter of Angela and Wayne Hines of Rocky Mount.

Ross is a 2006 graduate of Rocky Mount High School.
