The Rocky Mount Public Works Department began its fall loose leaf collection on Monday.
City crews will collect loose leaves at the curb every other week. Officials ask that residents rake leaves and pine straw in piles behind the curb or onto the shoulder of the road and not into streets or gutters.
The collection frequency is planned for every other week in two geographic areas north and south of Western and Hill streets, with some adjustments for the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Crews will begin with the North route and alternate weekly with the South route until collection ends on Dec. 31.
Residents who would like leaves delivered to their homes so that they can create mulch should call the city’s Streets Division at 252-467-4906
