Donnie Morris said he felt the plea bargain was a “slap on the wrist” compared to what his cousin had done.

Years of allegations about Edward Wayne Holloman and his wife defrauding family members yielded grand jury indictments against the couple in November and Dec. 5 arrests.

Where there is smoke.......

"Years of allegations..." Special prosecutors are NOT appointed on a whim. Special prosecutors are appointed because the scope of an alleged crime is so vast that it requires someone with special abilities and resourses to handle it. The very fact that a special prosecutor has been appointed means that what is being alleged is enormous in nature. A GRAND JURY doesn't hand down indictments for no reason. The grand jury listened to the evidence presented to it and determined that there was enough evidence to take these people to trial. This is not just one person with a personal connection to the victim, but many people and 2/3 to 3/4 (a supermajority) have to agree that the evidence is valid enough to bring charges. GENEROSITY is not proof against illegal, immoral and unethical behavior. At the risk of repeating myself, it's easy to be generous with someone else's money! It doesn't take any sacrifice at all to give away the last dime out of someone else's pocket! ALFORD PLEA....If you were innocent would you submit an Alford plea? In what universe is that a good idea for an innocent person? In my personal opinion an Alford plea is the cowards way to plead guilty. If you can't plead not guilty because you absolutely ARE guilty, then I guess the Alford plea is a way to get out of owning up to the dispicable actions you know you have committed against people who believed in you. If you don't have the personal dignity, the cojones, the manhood to stand up and say "Yes, I did it", then I guess the Alford plea will do just as well. An Alford plea....doesn't that say enough? THE JUSTICE SYSTEM DOESN'T DEAL IN VENDETTAS. The very fact that charges have been brought against Edward Holloman not once, not twice, but for the THIRD time means that the investigators in the justice system have found EVIDENCE against him for CRIMES over and over! Do you really believe that the government agencies involved in the investigation and prosecution of these people are just being mean? Seriously? And even though she has only been charged once, Marsha Holloman is in the same boat. Evidence has been found against her as well. She isn't some poor little housefrau who unfortunately got caught up in her husbands bad deeds! She was a willing, knowing participant or she wouldn't have been charged as well. There are always those people with the "Don't confuse me with the facts" attitude. That's fine as long as YOU aren't the one having your future stolen. But don't disrespect the victims of these crimes just because you can't face the fact that you were wrong in your assessment of someone else's character. Does it stand to reason that a man who worked for himself most of his adult life, who saved for his retirement, would willingly pay someone else's taxes? How about paying someone else's business expenses, or services and repairs to someone else's car with the money you needed to live on? If you think this makes any kind of sense at all then you can be my new best friend because I have some personal expenses that I would love for you to pay for me! I hope against hope that these two aren't allowed to take an Alford plea on this one! Stealing nearly a million dollars from a relative who was counting on having it to live on for the rest of his life is inhuman. It depicts people with no regard for anyone but themselves. It depicts people without even the lowest level of human decency. If they do get off just remember this....YOUR money spends just as well as anyone else's.

Holloman Arrest

I see Mr. Holloman is again front page news in Rocky Mount. No matter how many times he is arrested, many people of his Mormon congregation will not accept that he is evil. But not all. I am also a Mormon. I have known him for 20+ years. I know he is capable of committing all the crimes he has been charged with. Please don't judge all Mormons by Mr. Holloman's actions. Not all of us are deceitful thieves with no conscience.

Hollomans

I'm sure they would give you the shirt off their back. In fact I don't know too many fraudsters who were not nice people...... These are the ones you have to watch out for, they are more dangerous than a thief in the night. At least you know what a thief in the night is doing.

Hollomans

I agree with Kelley. I have known the Holloman family for years, and can honestly tell you that they are some of the best people you would ever have the pleasure of meeting. They would give you the shirts off their backs and then ask if you need anything else. It hurts my heart that such hateful words are being said about them, and hope they get the chance to show their side.

Holloman fraud case

First of all, I am not a member of the Holloman family. Some of you reading this comment will jump to the conclusion that I am. I have been associated with the Hollomans for years and know what kind of GOOD people they are. The comments made by Donny Morris are vengeful. Why didn't the reporter speak to Mr and Mrs Holloman before printing this article, it is definitely one sided. We stand behind the Holloman family during these difficult and troubling times.
