Firefighters jumped into action Saturday to save two houses from the spread of a brush fire.

According to reports, the fire was called in just before 3 p.m. on the 1600 block of West Mount Drive and crews from Rocky Mount, West Mount, Sharpsburg and Coopers fire departments responded. The high wind conditions complicated the fight, but within about 30 minutes, the blaze was out.

Officials said a field fire spread into a large wooded area and threatened two residences before it was brought under control. No structures were damaged and no one was injured.
