Fifth arrest made in Northern Nash student murder

From Staff Reports

Thursday, October 29, 2009

Phoenix police have arrested another Rocky Mount resident suspected in the Sept. 4 murder of a Northern Nash High School student, bringing the arrest total to five.

More arrests are coming, Rocky Mount police said Thursday.

Authorities arrested Juan Ashaki Simmons, 33, late Wednesday and charged her in the shooting death of 17-year-old Chavalis Boyd, found dead in a Rocky Mount house fire last month. Simmons was charged with accessory after the fact for murder and accessory after the fact for arson.

Police so far have arrested Corey Jermaine Lee, 32, Brian Carney, 20, Nathan Jones, 32, and Quantisia Lushun Moss, 21, in the murder investigation.

After extinguishing the blaze at Boyd’s home on Silverleaf Road last month, firefighters found the teen dead in the home’s front bedroom. An autopsy conducted a few days later determined the teen had been shot to death before the fire.

Lee, Carney and Jones are charged in the murder and arson, while Moss and Simmons are accused of aiding in the crime.

“There are a lot of people involved with this case,” Capt. Laura Fahnestock said. “We’re going to arrest everyone who had anything to do with it because this family deserves justice. If you commit a crime in Rocky Mount, we are definitely going prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law, and it doesn’t matter if you’re in Rocky Mount or in Arizona, we will find you.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111 or e-mail crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.

All of these people up here commenting on this situation and don't know the whole story. I know juan personally and this is not her. She was a nurse and loved people and her job. I believe she got involved with the wrong people and had no escape. she DO NOT deserve this. @ the nurse she did not neglect her kids they are WELL taken care of so mind our own business!!
