A well-known face and name helped Stanley “Big Griff” Griffin win the Democratic nomination to take on Republican nominee Keith Stone in the fall election for Nash County sheriff.

Nash county sheriff race

It's a shame that a black man can not win a primary race in a county that he loves without being attacked. The people in the county both white, black and Asian voted for Mr. Griffin because they wanted to. So they believe that he is the kind of person that they want for their sheriff. I am sure that "louis" will introduce the "voter fraud theory" next. "louis" continue to hate. Because we know that you can't breathe without hating.

You just don't know me....

I say what I think. Always have. If voter fraud exists, it is insignificant. If it exists, folks in both parties are involved. I am neither a dem nor a pub. I don't like political parties. I believe all they want is power. However, both of my parents were involved in dem politics. My father was a precinct committeeman and my mother county chairwoman at one time. I grew up in a small town (2,500) comprised of both blacks and whites, though blacks were the minority. My father worked a trade. He was a house painter. His partner was black. I was on a first name basis with John Manley when he was the chief here. I really liked John and still do. I really think Chief Moore is doing a super job in a very tough environment. It bothers me when he and his department catch flak. As for the sheriff nominee, I would be just as harsh on him had he been white. We need trained and experienced professionals like Chief Moore to lead and manage our agencies. Amateurs are the last thing we need in the world today. I am certain Griffin is doing right in his role in the community. We need positive leaders in the community. They are hard to come by. This is who I am and what I think. Louis aka Louise.

He cares about people

Louise the reason that he was voted to represent the democratic party was not only because he was the best candidate but because he really cares about people. It is clear to me that you know nothing about law enforcement or the qualification that it takes to be a Sheriff, what do you do? Gene Braswell has done nothing for this county nor has Keith Stone. Braswell is done so I guess we will hear from you about 4 our 5 years from now if he decides to run again. So lets talk about Stone, he has his work cut out for him, people will soon see the phony face that he has recently put on is only a ploy for him to get elected. He has been in law enforcement for 30 years and has done absolutely nothing for our community and is solely dependent upon money and support from those who are considered to be the upper echelon in our community. But beware, there are more people in the middle and lower class and our votes count,in November we will see a New Sheriff in town focused on change so in the words of Big Griff "Dream Big, Aim High and embrace change, its coming!

I rest my case.....

Blah! Blah! Blah! You want the guy elected simply because he is black...nothing more, nothing less.

OK. OK.

First, the race card was laid down, next came name-calling and finally I am now "Louise" who also happens to be hostile. And yet, with all of this, nothing is stated why "BIG Griff" is qualified to be the sheriff of Nash County. Let me help you get started: First, let's start with the grossly obese and obviously extremely out of shape condition of your candidate. What kind of example will he be to his deputies? What if they start getting in the same grossly obese and out of shape condition as their sheriff? How will he handle that situation since he cannot offer a personal example? Will the deputies become grossly obese and out of shape as their leader? Is that what we want in Nash county to fight crime? I certainly hope not. Second, let's talk about qualifications. Why is he more qualified to lead and manage the Nash County Sheriff Department than his opponent, Gene Braswell? The only law enforcement experience "BIG Griff" brings to the table is 4 years or so as, I assume, a patrol officer. How does that experience compare with that of Gene Braswell who has 25 years experience as a deputy in the Wake County Sheriff Department. Braswell is experienced in ALL aspects of the operation in a large and excellent sheriff department. He has served on a Federal ATF Task Force. Go check out his background and come back here and us all why you think "BIG Griff" is more qualified to be the sheriff of Nash County. Tell us all in very clear and detailed terms (no glittering generalities, please) why you voted for "BIG Griff."

Louise

Whether you are a racist or just ignorant remains to be seen. Your comment on his weight even sounded biggoted. What could his weight possibly have to do with his ability to be a good Nash County Sheriff? If your issue was with his qualifications, that should have been your point. The fact that you went there really makes you wonder why you are so hostile. Is it his lack of qualifications or is it what he looks like??? Not judging, just curious.

Nash county sheriff primary race

To "louis" I am not who you say that I am. Since when do people like you care about credentials. What a joke! I know exactly who you are. I am sick of race baiters like you (white or black) churning up mess and trying to disturb the peace between black folks and white folks in the rocky mount-Nashville area. You tried to be slick with your comment but contrary to what you want "he won the primary race". Get over it. Your greatest attribute is "hating folks".

Nash county sheriff primary race

To "louis" It is a shame that the primary race was just last night and you are already attacking this man. I am sure that you are a member of the party that "hate all folks that are not white republicans". Continue to do what you do best- "hate".

Here comes that old tattered race card....

I re-read my post and nowhere did I mention the color of his skin. My complaint, or shall I say concern, is solely with his total lack of the credentials I believe are needed to successfully lead and manage a law enforcement agency as complex as the Nash County Sheriff Department. I would also take issue with his background; however, judging from the picture, it already appears to be pretty broad. All you can do in retort is to throw out that same old tattered race card. And judging from your post, I am sure that you are a member of the party that "hate all folks that are not black democrats."

Exactly what Nash County needs.....

A grossly over-weight bail-bondsman who has only minimal law enforcement experience. But, have no fear, "he knows our kids."
