Nash County Sheriff’s candidate Stanley “Big Griff” Griffin won the Democratic nomination over Gene Braswell, according to preliminary results.

With 100 percent of the votes reportedly tabulated, Griffin has garnered 58 percent of the votes compared to Braswell’s nearly 42 percent.

Griffin will take on Republican candidate Keith Stone in the general election this fall to replace Nash County Sheriff Dick Jenkins, who announced in 2012 he would not run again.

All vote totals are unofficial.
