I'd like to make the public aware of a Web site where they can obtain information about the positions of candidates running for office. Because I strive to vote informed and not on name recognition, I've become aware of a nonpartisan Web site that makes a voter guide available without giving out my e-mail address.

The Web site is ncfamily.org, and the site's questions are geared toward family values issues.

My frustration is that too often candidates and incumbents refuse to reveal their positions on these issues.

I'm appealing to the public to refuse to cast your vote for any candidate or incumbent who will not answer questions that reveal their positions to the public they are hoping to serve or do presently serve.

It would seem ridiculous that an individual would ask for my vote without telling me through a public service organization where he or she stands on issues that concern me, yet it is done over and over during elections, year after year.

When a person running for office refuses to respond to questions about issues that concern the public, I would think it would indicate a desire to hide something.

Unfortunately, it often does, and the candidates try to get away with letting the public know as little as possible, knowing their positions are not popular or acceptable.

Please do not vote for name recognition or incumbents without knowing where they stand. Vote for candidates of integrity.

In November make an informed decision for a person who doesn't hide, but proclaims his positions in every way possible.
