Conservatives see opportunities in state

NASHVILLE — Fed up with government expansion, high taxes and liberal policies, furious conservatives had three words for Democrats on Tuesday: “November is coming.”

Leaders from the conservative state chapter of the national group Americans for Prosperity made a pit stop at the L&L Food Store along West Washington Street to promote its bus tour. The bus tour rally also made stops in Clinton, Dunn, Louisburg and Henderson — all 2nd Congressional District towns — with Americans for Prosperity officials telling Democratic incumbents they could be voted out of office in November.

Dallas Woodhouse, state director of Americans for Prosperity, spoke to a crowd of close to 100 local voters urging them to prepare for the upcoming midterm elections. Other representatives from the conservative think tanks The John Locke Foundation and the John W. Pope Civitas Institute also briefed residents about the importance of voter education and knowledge of incumbents’ voting records on important issues.

Marie Paris and 12 other volunteers of the Wilson NC Tea Party were present to hear from fellow conservatives. The Tea Party is affiliated with the Americans for Prosperity.

Considering the time of day and warm temperatures, Paris said she was impressed with the number of participants. She said the event is a prelude to the turnout she expects on Election Day.

“We hear people’s concerns. But I think this is a testament that they are not alone. Someone is listening,” Paris said.

The conservative group used Labor Day and Tuesday to travel throughout the 2nd, 7th and 8th congressional districts to take aim at Democratic U.S. Reps. Bob Etheridge, Larry Kissell and Mike McIntyre. The organization continues to criticize the Democrats for their votes on legislation such as the overhaul of health care and the federal stimulus package.

Woodhouse said the race between Dunn nurse Renee Ellmers and Etheridge is important. He said 2nd Congressional District voters should know Etheridge’s liberal stances on fiscal and social issues before casting ballots in that race.

“For many years, (Etheridge) has made the people of North Carolina believe one thing, but he’s doing something completely different in (Washington, D.C.),” Woodhouse said. “The voters deserve to know who the real Bob Etheridge is.”

Mike Davis, Etheridge campaign spokesman, recently took aim at the Americans for Prosperity’s bus tour. In a prepared statement, Davis described the organization as a “shadowy partisan operation funded by big corporate special interests to push Wall Street’s agenda at the expense of working people on North Carolina’s Main Streets.”

He said that Etheridge continues to work for the 2nd District and grow the economy by supporting tax cuts and initiatives that help small businesses and families. The organization’s favored policies does not ensure prosperity, but endangers the middle class, Davis said.

“This group wants to gamble hard-earned Social Security savings in a risky stock market and supports tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans,” Davis said.

The chickens have come home to roost !!!!

For many President Obama campaigned as a moderate which was misleading. If they had looked just a bit closer they would have realized that Obama was a Marxist leaning Socialist.

Obama along with his cohorts of Reid, Hagan, Pelosi, Butterfield and Etheridge have taken this country the way that Obama had envisioned toward Marxist communism. We now have a health care plan that contains death panels. Not only does the plan have death panels, the plan gives the government the right to enter your financial accounts and extract money without you permission or without you knowing that it has happening.

Etheridge and Butterfield claim to pro business but you look at their voting record. They are anything but pro business. Their voting records indicate that they are anti-business with increased taxes, increased regulation, and increased government spending. To be pro businesses you must cut taxes and allow the business to use the money save to expand and add employees. To be pro business you must stop deficit spending and reduce spending so that the funds are available to businesses via loans to expand and do research.

It is time to end the extravagance of this administration and Congress. We must elect physical responsible individuals to Congress in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Individuals that will cut spending, cut taxes, and generate a surplus budget to pay off the debt generated by the Obama administration and his cohort Congress.

Mr Yuma

while i agree with your comments please note that the word physical should be replaced with fiscal or fiscally.
thanks, MAC
