Morgan Rae Lane placed first in the 2009 National Association for Teachers of Singers (NATS) Regional competition April 3 in Boone.

She performed "Song of the Madonna" by Samuel Barber in the recital that showcased all winners in all 32 divisions.

Morgan qualified for Regionals in the Freshman/Sophomore Women's Classical High School division at a competition held in February at UNC-Greensboro. She also qualified for Regionals in the Freshman/Sophomore Women's Musical Theater held in December at Elon College.

Morgan has taken voice lesson from Patsy Gilliland of Rocky Mount for the past 10 months. She also is a member of the Tar River Children’s Choir, which is a part of the Tar River Orchestra Association.

Morgan, the daughter of Doug and Gina Lane, is a sophomore at Southern Nash High School.
