Overcast skies and predicted storms for Thursday night will move the season’s first Downtown Live! to an indoor venue.

Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation officials made the call Thursday afternoon that the forecasted inclement weather would interfere with the outdoor concert usually scheduled for the lawn at the Imperial Centre for Arts & Sciences. In the past, weather has canceled the entertainment altogether, but the city opted to move the event to the Booker T. Theater at 170 E. Thomas St.

Doors will open for the free event at 5 p.m. and the Band of Oz will start playing at 6 p.m. Seating is limited, so early arrival is recommended. Lawn chairs are not necessary.

Concessions will be available for an additional cost.
