The audience clapped and swayed back and forth as “The Presence of the Lord is Here” blared out of the speakers inside the Victory in Christ Church Saturday afternoon.

question re: the 'other' rocky mount double standard

double standard, or two rocky mounts not considered with standard consistency. question or thought: City manager has expressed interest in the new convention center.. which he followed up with wanting it located at/near the Douglas Block. In the financial statements for city of rocky mount there is I believe $100,000 for a 'feasability study' for the convention center. It seems to be predetermined that the center will be at/near the douglas block near 'whover owns it' property. so, why a feasability study, just go ahead and do it, use our tax money for more douglas block projects. Shouldn't a feasability study also look at other sites? you tell me.

Good point Gail----Definitely

Good point Gail----Definitely a double standard in Rocky Mount and will remain that way as long as knight-blackwell-penny, etc are in power.

no fail, Gail

I was hoping to see if someone would comment on this. you'd be surprised a the number of people who have mentioned the same thing to me. no doubt, innocent young children doing 'mime'. but you are right on point, if it had been white children with blackface-heaven forbid and the insults would be flying. some things haven't changed. Glad you posted.

reverse

If this picture was reverse of a white person with black face, there would be a picket line at the telegram about now.
