Bomb threat prompts evacuation of Walmart in Tarboro

Authorities on Thursday afternoon evacuated the Walmart in Tarboro following a bomb threat.

Tarboro police Sgt. Al Braxton said employees received a phone call around 4:30 p.m. at the store at 110 River Oaks Drive. Walmart management notified police, who promptly evacuated the store.

Law enforcement are investigating the allegation of a bomb at the store. Officials are urging people to avoid the area for the time being. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Tarboro Police Department at 641-4247.
