The Nash County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about a drive-by shooting Thursday that killed a 41-year-old Middlesex woman.

Three people were inside a house on Old Middlesex Road when someone drove by and shot at the residence just before 10 p.m. Thursday, according to information from the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.

Portia Hinnant, 41, who was inside the house when the shooting occurred, was pronounced dead at the scene. Hinnant’s husband and son also were inside the house, said Capt. Pat Joyner. They were not injured.

Investigators do not have a description of the vehicle or any suspects, Joyner said.
