Authorities are searching for suspects wanted in connection with the starting of a fire in a local garage.
Officials responded Thursday afternoon to a report of a small fire on the 700 block of Eastern Avenue in a storage building. The fire was contained and extinguished quickly. No description of the suspects was available. No one was injured in the incident.
“From a broad public safety perspective, the safest neighborhoods are those with active residents,” Rocky Mount Fire Chief Trey Mayo said. “Be on the lookout for and report unusual or suspicious activity like, in this case, a group of juveniles without any clear purpose hanging around a storage building. Know who your neighbors are, what kind of vehicles they drive and what their typical routine is so you can better identify unusual activity.”
