Authorities are investigating a Thursday morning fire at a vacant house on the 700 block of Pender Street.
Firefighters responded around 3:40 a.m. to a report of a structure fire and reportedly saw heavy flames coming from the rear of the house. Bystanders reportedly told police they were unsure whether anyone was in the house, but a search revealed the house was vacant.
It took about 40 minutes to get the blaze under control. The house was heavily damaged by the fire and the cause of the blaze is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
