Despite the progress Tropical Storm Arthur has made up the East Coast, Rocky Mount is not expected to be hit by severe or inclement weather, National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Strickler said.

The tropical storm is not expected to make landfall at all, Strickler said, due to a cold front coming out of the west, which should keep the storm on the water.

“The worst of the weather will stay east of us off the coast,” Strickler said.

Rocky Mount is expected to get hit with some rain, Strickler said, but it should only be from some minor thunderstorms late Thursday night into early Friday morning.
