Rocky Mount police have identified two suspects in one of the two shootings that occurred on the city's East Side last weekend.
Rocky Mount police Capt. Martin McCoy said Friday evening that two suspects have been identified in connection to a shooting that occurred at 11:38 p.m. May 17 on the 500 block of Arlington Street.
Police said two teenagers were shot in the back while riding in a vehicle. One of the teens was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, the other teen was taken to Nash General Hospital.
Police declined to identify the teens because they are juveniles.
McCoy declined to identify the suspects or the teens on Friday.
Both of the teens were treated and released with non life-threatening injuries, McCoy said earlier this week.
The other shooting occurred just minutes before the two teens were shot. Police responded to a call for a shooting at 11:26 p.m. near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Raleigh Street.
In that incident, a man was shot in the right side of his mouth while sitting in a vehicle. The man, who police declined to identify, was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
He was listed in stable condition on Monday.
"We're still working on the other shooting," McCoy said, adding that police are investigating additional leads.
Anyone with information on either of the shootings is asked to contact McCoy at 927-1485, or the Twin County Crimestoppers at 927-1111.
